Harry Winstone sets new world record for the diamond
Harry Winston, diamond production and distribution company, has set the new record price ever paid for diamond during Christies auction in Switzerland, Geneva.
Jewelry company, Harry Winston, who also own mines as well as other facilities to produce diamonds, on Wednesday night in Christies auction, Geneva Switzerland, has bought for $ 26,7 million for the 101,73 carat diamond.
According to Christies representative Raul Kadakia, Harry Winston, as well known as Dominion Diamond Corp., bought this particular diamond. I th process of purchasing this precious stone Harry Winston has beaten previous world record by $ 10 million.
Diamond itslef is 101,73 carat was found in Jwaneng mine, locaten in Kalahari desert, Botswana. Raw diamond was 236 carat but after carefull processing it has slimmed down to 101,73 carats.
As the first buyer Harry Winstone were awarded with privilage to name the stone. It was called – Harry Legacy. The diamond was given D colour (the highest grade the stone can get) and was identified as flawless. Another feature cotributing to this diamonds value was it’s correct asymmentric shape. Christies experts were expecting to the price to go up to $ 30 million.
Canadian company Harry Winston has sold it’s high-end jewelry department to Swiss watch maker Swatch for $ 1 billion in 2012.
